Symbolizing a universally recognized emblem of peace, this pair of dove shaped staff toppers were once finials on a pair of IOOF Odd Fellows Rebekah ceremonial pieces. They were acquired when the contents of the Odd Fellows/Rebekah Lodge in Beresford SD which closed in the 1920s were auctioned off. The staff/flag poles are long gone so the doves in flight have been mounted on a piece of wood to display.
The toppers measure 4.5" tall x 4+" at the wing span. The new wooden bases are 3" square.
Made of impressed pot metal, doves are one of the symbols used by both the Odd Fellows and the Masons and signify "peace on earth and good will to men.
