Vintage "Sweet Mist Tobacco" country store tobacco tin tin dating to the early 1900's. Great gold and deep red metal tin & with a hinged, [perforated and latched lid. The graphics are fabulous - touting "38 Sweet Mist Fine Cut 5 Cent Packages cut" on both sides. The front and back featured a charming decal of three cherubs playing in a fountain which undoubtedly is what the mist refers to. Both read the tobacco name plus "Manufactured by Scotten, Dillon Company, Detroit Mich.

The gold color indicates this tin held the light blend of the tobacco. It initially held 48 individual packets that sold for 5 cents each. 11" high x 8" in diameter. The condition is quite good, given its history. The lid is a bit askew and there is oxidation on all sides which can be seen in the photos. The mellow gold color and remarkable graphics offset these issues.

Nice piece of early American advertising in very good vintage condition.
